2 Chronicles 12

And it came to pass, when Rehoboam had established the kingdom, and had strengthened himself, he forsook the law of the LORD, and all Israel with him.

And it came to pass, that in the fifth year of king Rehoboam Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, because they had transgressed against the LORD,

With twelve hundred chariots, and threescore thousand horsemen: and the people were without number that came with him out of Egypt; the Lubims, the Sukkiims, and the Ethiopians.

అతనితో బాటు ఐగుప్తు నుండి వచ్చిన లూబీయులు, సుక్కీయులు, కూషీయులు లెక్కకు మించి ఉన్నారు.

And he took the fenced cities which pertained to Judah, and came to Jerusalem.

షీషకు యూదాకు దగ్గరగా ఉన్న ప్రాకార పురాలను పట్టుకుని యెరూషలేము వరకూ వచ్చాడు.

Whereupon the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, The LORD is righteous.

అప్పుడు ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల అధిపతులు, రాజు వినయంగా తల వంచుకుని “యెహోవా న్యాయవంతుడు” అని ఒప్పుకున్నారు.

And when the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah, saying, They have humbled themselves; therefore I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance; and my wrath shall not be poured out upon Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.

వారు తమను తాము తగ్గించుకోవడం యెహోవా చూశాడు. యెహోవా వాక్కు షెమయాకు ప్రత్యక్షమై ఈ విధంగా సెలవిచ్చాడు. “వారు తమను తాము తగ్గించుకున్నారు కాబట్టి నేను వారిని నాశనం చేయను. షీషకు ద్వారా నా ఉగ్రతను యెరూషలేము మీద కుమ్మరింపక త్వరలో వారికి రక్షణ దయచేస్తాను.

Nevertheless they shall be his servants; that they may know my service, and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.

అయితే నన్ను సేవించడానికీ, భూరాజులకు దాసులై ఉండడానికీ ఎంత తేడా ఉందో వారు గ్రహించడం కోసం వారు అతనికి దాసులవుతారు.”

So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took away the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king’s house; he took all: he carried away also the shields of gold which Solomon had made.

ఐగుప్తురాజు షీషకు యెరూషలేము మీదికి వచ్చి, యెహోవా మందిరంలో, రాజనగరంలో ఉన్న ధనాగారాలన్నిటినీ దోచుకుని, సొలొమోను చేయించిన బంగారపు డాళ్లను తీసుకు వెళ్ళాడు.

Instead of which king Rehoboam made shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the chief of the guard, that kept the entrance of the king’s house.

రెహబాము వాటికి బదులు ఇత్తడి డాళ్ళు చేయించి వాటిని రాజనగరం ద్వారాన్ని కాసే సైనికుల అధిపతులకి అప్పగించాడు.

And when the king entered into the house of the LORD, the guard came and fetched them, and brought them again into the guard chamber.

రాజు యెహోవా మందిరంలోకి ప్రవేశించిన ప్రతిసారీ రక్షక భటులు వచ్చి వాటిని మోసేవారు. ఆ తరువాత వాటిని మళ్లీ గదిలో ఉంచేవారు.

And when he humbled himself, the wrath of the LORD turned from him, that he would not destroy him altogether: and also in Judah things went well.

అతడు తనను తాను తగ్గించుకోవడం వలన, యూదావారిలో కొంతమట్టుకు మంచి ఇంకా మిగిలే ఉండడం వలన, యెహోవా అతనిని పూర్తిగా నశింపజేయకుండా తన కోపాన్ని అతని మీద నుండి మళ్లించుకున్నాడు.

And he did evil, because he prepared not his heart to seek the LORD.

Now the acts of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the book of Shemaiah the prophet, and of Iddo the seer concerning genealogies? And there were wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.

రెహబాము చేసిన ఇతర కార్యాలన్నిటి గురించి ప్రవక్త షెమయా, దీర్ఘదర్శి ఇద్దో రచించిన గ్రంథాల్లో రాసి ఉంది. వాటిలో ఇంకా వంశావళులూ రెహబాముకూ యరొబాముకూ జరిగిన నిరంతర యుద్ధాల వివరాలున్నాయి.

And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: and Abijah his son reigned in his stead.

రెహబాము తన పూర్వీకులతో కూడా కన్నుమూసినవ్పుడు అతనిని దావీదు పట్టణంలో పాతిపెట్టారు. అప్పుడు అతని కొడుకు అబీయా అతనికి బదులుగా రాజయ్యాడు.
