Proverbs 22

A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.

గొప్ప ఐశ్వర్యం కంటే మంచి పేరు, వెండి బంగారాలకంటే దయ మరింత అభిలషించ దగినవి.

The rich and poor meet together: the LORD is the maker of them all.

ఐశ్వర్యవంతులు, దరిద్రులు వీరిద్దరినీ సృష్టించింది యెహోవాయే.

A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.

బుద్ధిమంతుడు అపాయం రావడం చూసి దాక్కుంటాడు. ఆజ్ఞానులు అనాలోచనగా పోయి బాధలు కొని తెచ్చుకుంటారు.

By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.

యెహోవా పట్ల భయభక్తులు వినయాన్ని, ఐశ్వర్యాన్ని, ఘనతను, జీవాన్ని తెస్తాయి.

Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them.

ముళ్ళు, ఉచ్చులు మూర్ఖుల దారిలో ఉన్నాయి. తనను కాపాడుకొనేవాడు వాటికి దూరంగా ఉంటాడు.

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

పసివాడు నడవాల్సిన మార్గమేదో వాడికి నేర్పించు. వయసు పైబడినా వాడు అందులోనుండి తొలగడు.

The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.

ఐశ్వర్యవంతుడు పేదలపై పెత్తనం చేస్తాడు. అప్పుచేసిన వాడు అప్పిచ్చిన వాడికి బానిస.

He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail.

దుర్మార్గాన్ని విత్తనంగా చల్లేవాడు కీడు అనే పంట కోసుకుంటాడు. వాడి క్రోధమనే కర్ర నిరర్థకమై పోతుంది.

He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor.

ఉదార గుణం గలవాడికి దీవెన. ఎందుకంటే అతడు తన ఆహారంలో కొంత పేదవాడికి ఇస్తాడు.

Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease.

తిరస్కారబుద్ధి గలవాణ్ణి వెళ్ళగొట్టు. కలహాలు, పోరాటాలు, అవమానాలు వాటంతట అవే సద్దు మణుగుతాయి.

He that loveth pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend.

శుద్ధ హృదయాన్ని ప్రేమిస్తూ ఇంపైన మాటలు పలికే వాడికి రాజు స్నేహితుడౌతాడు.

The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge, and he overthroweth the words of the transgressor.

జ్ఞానం గలవాడిపై యెహోవా చూపు నిలుపుకుని అతణ్ణి కాపాడతాడు. విశ్వాస ఘాతకుల మాటలు ఆయన కొట్టి పారేస్తాడు.

The slothful man saith, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets.

సోమరి “బయట సింహం ఉంది, బయటికి వెళ్తే చచ్చిపోతాను” అంటాడు.

The mouth of strange women is a deep pit: he that is abhorred of the LORD shall fall therein.

వేశ్య నోరు లోతైన గొయ్యి. యెహోవా శాపాన్ని మూటగట్టుకున్నవాడు దానిలో పడతాడు.

Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

పిల్లవాడి హృదయంలో మూఢత్వం సహజంగానే ఉంటుంది. బెత్తంతో విధించే శిక్ష దాన్ని వాడిలోనుండి తోలివేస్తుంది.

He that oppresseth the poor to increase his riches, and he that giveth to the rich, shall surely come to want.

తన ఆస్తిపాస్తులు పెంచుకోవాలని పేదలను పీడించే వారికి, ధనవంతులకే ఇచ్చే వాడికి నష్టమే కలుగుతుంది.

Bow down thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply thine heart unto my knowledge.

శ్రద్ధగా జ్ఞానుల ఉపదేశం ఆలకించు. నేనిచ్చే తెలివిని పొందడానికి మనసు లగ్నం చెయ్యి.

For it is a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee; they shall withal be fitted in thy lips.

నీ అంతరంగంలో వాటిని నిలుపుకోవడం, అవన్నీ నీ పెదవులపై ఉండడం ఎంతో రమ్యం.

That thy trust may be in the LORD, I have made known to thee this day, even to thee.

నీవు యెహోవాను ఆశ్రయించేలా నీకు, అవును, నీకే గదా నేను ఈ రోజున వీటిని ఉపదేశించాను?

Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge,

వివేకం, విచక్షణ గల శ్రేష్ఠమైన సూక్తులు నేను నీకోసం రాయలేదా?

That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?

నిన్ను పంపేవారికి నీవు యథార్థంగా జవాబులిచ్చేలా, నమ్మదగిన సత్యవాక్కులు నీకు నేర్పించ లేదా?

Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate:

పేదవాడు గదా అని పేదవాణ్ణి దోచుకోవద్దు. పట్టణ ద్వారాల దగ్గర నిస్సహాయులను నలగ గొట్టవద్దు.

For the LORD will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.

యెహోవా వారి పక్షంగా వాదిస్తాడు. వారిని దోచుకొనేవారి ప్రాణాలు ఆయన దోచుకుంటాడు.

Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:

కోపం అదుపులో ఉంచుకోలేని వాడితో స్నేహం చెయ్య వద్దు. క్రోధంతో రంకెలు వేసే వాడి దగ్గరికి వెళ్ల వద్దు.

Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.

నువ్వు కూడా వాడి ధోరణి నేర్చుకుని నీ ప్రాణానికి ఉరి తెచ్చుకుంటావేమో జాగ్రత్త.

Be not thou one of them that strike hands, or of them that are sureties for debts.

అప్పులకు హామీ ఉండకు. ఇతరుల బాకీలకు పూచీ తీసుకోకు.

If thou hast nothing to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under thee?

ఆ అప్పు తీర్చడానికి నీ దగ్గర ఏమీ లేకపోతే వాడు నువ్వు పడుకునే పరుపు తీసుకు పోకుండా ఆపడం ఎలా?

Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.

నీ పూర్వీకులు వేసిన పురాతనమైన పొలిమేర రాతిని నీవు తీసివేయకూడదు.

Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.

తన పనిలో నిపుణతగల వాణ్ణి చూసావా? వాడు రాజుల సమక్షంలోనే నిలబడతాడు, మామూలు వాళ్ళ ఎదుట కాదు.
