2 Kings 8

Then spake Elisha unto the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, Arise, and go thou and thine household, and sojourn wheresoever thou canst sojourn: for the LORD hath called for a famine; and it shall also come upon the land seven years.

తరువాత ఎలీషా తాను బతికించిన పిల్లవాడి తల్లిని పిలిచాడు. ఆమెతో “నీ కుటుంబాన్ని తీసుకుని బయల్దేరు. ఎక్కడైనా నీకు అనుకూలమైన మరో దేశంలో ఉండు. ఎందుకంటే దేశంలో యెహోవా కరువు రప్పించబోతున్నాడు. ఈ కరువు ఏడు సంవత్సరాలు ఉంటుంది” అన్నాడు.

And the woman arose, and did after the saying of the man of God: and she went with her household, and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years.

కాబట్టి ఆమె దేవుని మనిషి మాటకు లోబడి తన కుటుంబాన్ని తీసుకుని ఫిలిష్తీ దేశం వెళ్ళి అక్కడ ఏడు సంవత్సరాలు నివసించింది.

And it came to pass at the seven years’ end, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines: and she went forth to cry unto the king for her house and for her land.

ఆ ఏడు సంవత్సరాలు ముగిసిన తరువాత ఆమె ఫిలిష్తీ దేశం నుండి తిరిగి వచ్చి తన ఇంటి కోసం, పొలం కోసం రాజును అడగడానికి వెళ్ళింది.

And the king talked with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, Tell me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha hath done.

ఆ సమయంలో రాజు దేవుని మనిషి దగ్గర పని చేస్తున్న గేహజీతో “ఎలీషా చేసిన గొప్ప విషయాలను నాకు చెప్పు” అన్నాడు.

And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to life, that, behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.

చనిపోయిన పిల్లవాణ్ణి ఎలీషా ఎలా బ్రతికించాడో గేహాజీ చెప్తూ ఉండగా ఎలీషా బతికించిన పిల్లవాడి తల్లి తన ఇంటి కోసం, పొలం కోసం రాజును అడగడానికి వచ్చింది. అప్పుడు గేహజీ “నా ప్రభూ, రాజా, ఈమే ఆ స్త్రీ. ఎలీషా బతికించిన పిల్లవాడు వీడే” అన్నాడు.

And when the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed unto her a certain officer, saying, Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land, even until now.

రాజు ఆమె కొడుకును గూర్చి ఆమెను అడిగాడు. ఆమె అతనికి అంతా వివరించింది. కాబట్టి రాజు ఆమె కోసం ఒక అధికారిని నియమించాడు. “ఆమెకు చెందిన ఆస్తిని ఆమెకు ఇచ్చేయండి. ఆమె దేశం వదిలి వెళ్ళిన దగ్గరనుండి ఆమె పొలంలో పండిన పంట అంతా ఆమెకివ్వండి” అని ఆదేశించాడు.

And the king said unto Hazael, Take a present in thine hand, and go, meet the man of God, and enquire of the LORD by him, saying, Shall I recover of this disease?

రాజు హజాయేలును పిలిచాడు. “నీవు ఒక కానుక తీసుకుని దేవుని మనిషి దగ్గరికి వెళ్ళు. ‘నాకు నయమౌతుందా లేదా’ అని అతని ద్వారా యెహోవా దగ్గర సంప్రదించు” అని చెప్పాడు.

So Hazael went to meet him, and took a present with him, even of every good thing of Damascus, forty camels’ burden, and came and stood before him, and said, Thy son Ben-hadad king of Syria hath sent me to thee, saying, Shall I recover of this disease?

కాబట్టి హజాయేలు ఎలీషాకు కానుకగా దమస్కులో దొరికే మంచి వస్తువులను తీసుకుని వాటిని నలభై ఒంటెల మీద ఎక్కించి బయల్దేరాడు. హజాయేలు వచ్చి ఎలీషా ఎదుట నిలబడ్డాడు. “సిరియా రాజూ, నీ కొడుకులాంటి వాడూ అయిన బెన్హదదు తన రోగం నయమౌతుందా అని అడగడానికి నన్ను పంపాడు” అన్నాడు.

And Elisha said unto him, Go, say unto him, Thou mayest certainly recover: howbeit the LORD hath shewed me that he shall surely die.

అప్పుడు ఎలీషా “నీవు వెళ్ళు. అతనికి తప్పక నయమౌతుంది అని చెప్పు. కానీ అతడు కచ్చితంగా చనిపోతాడని యెహోవా నాకు చూపించాడు” అన్నాడు.

And he settled his countenance stedfastly, until he was ashamed: and the man of God wept.

ఇలా చెప్పి ఎలీషా హజాయేలు సిగ్గు పడేంతగా అతన్నే చూస్తూ కన్నీరు పెట్టుకున్నాడు.

And Hazael said, Why weepeth my lord? And he answered, Because I know the evil that thou wilt do unto the children of Israel: their strong holds wilt thou set on fire, and their young men wilt thou slay with the sword, and wilt dash their children, and rip up their women with child.

అప్పుడు హజాయేలు “నా ప్రభూ, మీరెందుకు ఏడుస్తున్నారు?” అని అడిగాడు. దానికి ఎలీషా “ఎందుకంటే ఇశ్రాయేలు ప్రజలకు నీవు చేయబోయే దుర్మార్గపు పనులు నాకు తెలుసు. వాళ్ళ ప్రాకారాలను నీవు తగలబెడతావు. వాళ్ళల్లో యువకులను కత్తితో హతమారుస్తావు. పిల్లలను నేలకు కొట్టి ముక్కలు చేస్తావు. గర్భవతుల కడుపులు చీరేస్తావు” అని జవాబిచ్చాడు.

And Hazael said, But what, is thy servant a dog, that he should do this great thing? And Elisha answered, The LORD hath shewed me that thou shalt be king over Syria.

అందుకు హజాయేలు “నేను కుక్కలాంటి వాణ్ణి. ఇంత పెద్ద పని నేనెలా చేస్తాను?” అన్నాడు. దానికి ఎలీషా “నీవు సిరియాకు రాజు అవుతావు. నాకు యెహోవా చూపించాడు” అన్నాడు.

So he departed from Elisha, and came to his master; who said to him, What said Elisha to thee? And he answered, He told me that thou shouldest surely recover.

అతడు ఎలీషా దగ్గరనుండి తన రాజు దగ్గరికి వచ్చాడు. అప్పుడు రాజు “ఎలీషా నీతో ఏం చెప్పాడు” అని అడిగాడు. అతడు “నీకు తప్పకుండా నయమౌతుంది అన్నాడు” అని జవాబిచ్చాడు.

And it came to pass on the morrow, that he took a thick cloth, and dipped it in water, and spread it on his face, so that he died: and Hazael reigned in his stead.

కాని ఆ తరువాత రోజు హజాయేలు ఒక కంబళి తీసుకుని నీటితో తడిపి దాన్ని రాజు ముఖంపై పరిచాడు. దాంతో రాజు చనిపోయాడు. అతని స్థానంలో హజాయేలు రాజు అయ్యాడు.

Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.

అతనికప్పుడు ముప్ఫై రెండేళ్ళు. అతడు యెరూషలేములో ఎనిమిది సంవత్సరాలు పరిపాలించాడు.

And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab: for the daughter of Ahab was his wife: and he did evil in the sight of the LORD.

ఇతడు అహాబు కూతుర్ని పెళ్ళి చేసుకున్నాడు. కాబట్టి ఇతడు ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజుల్లాగే వ్యవహరించాడు. అహాబు కుటుంబానికి చెందిన వాడిలా ప్రవర్తించాడు. యెహోవా దృష్టికి దుర్మార్గంగా కనిపించేదే చేశాడు.

Yet the LORD would not destroy Judah for David his servant’s sake, as he promised him to give him alway a light, and to his children.

కానీ యెహోవా తన సేవకుడైన దావీదును జ్ఞాపకం చేసుకున్నాడు కనుక యూదా రాజ్యాన్ని నాశనం చేయడానికి ఇష్టపడలేదు. దావీదు వారసులు యూదా రాజ్యాన్ని ఎన్నటికీ పరిపాలిస్తారని దేవుడు దావీదుకి ప్రమాణం చేశాడు.

So Joram went over to Zair, and all the chariots with him: and he rose by night, and smote the Edomites which compassed him about, and the captains of the chariots: and the people fled into their tents.

కాబట్టి యెహోరాము తన సైన్యాన్నీ, రథాలన్నిటినీ తీసుకుని ఎదోము సరిహద్దుల్లో ఉన్న జాయీరు పట్టణానికి వచ్చాడు. అక్కడ ఎదోము సైన్యాలు వాళ్ళను చుట్టుముట్టాయి. కానీ యెహోరాము రాత్రివేళ తన సైనికులతో రథాలతో శత్రుసైన్యాల పంక్తులను ఛేదించుకుని తప్పించుకున్నారు. అప్పుడు అతని సైన్యం తప్పించుకుని తమ ఇళ్ళకు చేరుకున్నారు.

Yet Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. Then Libnah revolted at the same time.

కాబట్టి ఈ రోజు వరకూ ఎదోమీయులు యూదా పై తిరుగుబాటు చేస్తూనే ఉన్నారు. అదే సమయంలో లిబ్నా ప్రజలు కూడా తిరుగుబాటు చేశారు.

And the rest of the acts of Joram, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

యెహోరామును గూర్చిన ఇతర విషయాలకొస్తే, అతడు చేసిన పనులన్నీ యూదా రాజుల చరిత్ర గ్రంథంలో రాసి ఉన్నాయి.

And Joram slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.

యెహోరాము చనిపోయి తన పూర్వీకులను చేరుకున్నాడు. దావీదు పట్టణంలో అతని పూర్వీకులతో కూడా అతణ్ణి పాతిపెట్టారు. అతని స్థానంలో అతని కొడుకు అహజ్యా రాజు అయ్యాడు.

Two and twenty years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign; and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Athaliah, the daughter of Omri king of Israel.

అహజ్యా పరిపాలన ప్రారంభించినప్పుడు అతనికి ఇరవై రెండేళ్ళు. ఇతడు యెరూషలేములో ఒక సంవత్సరం పరిపాలన చేశాడు. అతని తల్లి పేరు అతల్యా. ఈమె ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజు ఒమ్రీ కూతురు.

And he walked in the way of the house of Ahab, and did evil in the sight of the LORD, as did the house of Ahab: for he was the son in law of the house of Ahab.

అహజ్యా అహాబు కుటుంబానికి అల్లుడు. కాబట్టి అహాబు కుటుంబానికి చెందిన వాడిలాగే ప్రవర్తించాడు. యెహోవా దృష్టికి దుర్మార్గంగా కనిపించేదే చేశాడు.

And king Joram went back to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had given him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. And Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Joram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.

యెహోరాము సిరియా రాజు హజాయేలుతో రమా దగ్గర యుద్ధం చేసినప్పుడు తనకు కలిగిన గాయాలను నయం చేసుకోడానికి యెజ్రెయేలు ఊరికి తిరిగి వచ్చాడు. యూదా రాజూ, యెహోరాము కొడుకూ అయిన అహజ్యా, అహాబు కొడుకు యెహోరాము జబ్బు పడ్డాడని తెలుసుకుని అతణ్ణి పరామర్శించడానికి యెజ్రెయేలుకి వచ్చాడు.
